Mike Irene Music offers more than the traditional music instruction plan. The goal is to help the students develop into true musicians who are able to interact with other musicians and understand the essence of music, both from a technical and artistic perspective.

Our focus is on performance training. The approach is to draw from traditional contemporary methods and share with the student how these methods are applied in real life ensemble or band performances. With this end goal in mind, the students begin to understand the importance of mastering rudimentary skills, and they typically become anxious to put in the time necessary to get to the next level. As students work towards the recital performance, their motivation increases exponentially. Our recitals are put together two to three times per year.

While the students learn and perfect their part for a given piece of music, there will be opportunities to grow in our ensemble sessions with other students and the instructor. Ensemble session are 50 minute rehearsals that take place in lieu of one private lesson as the students prepare for their recital performances. (These sessions will be provided on a case by case basis and depend on the students' achievement level.) Our musicians will gain a true understanding of what it means to play with other musicians, develop musical memory, increase concentration as they focus on their part, and improve their ability to listen while playing.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to experience professional audio recording. As a student achieves higher levels of accomplishment, we will record a rendition of a song with which he/she is familiar with. The musician will gain first hand experience with multi-track digital audio technology and we will produce a CD and/or Mp3 for the student to keep and share with friends and family.

Taking a well rounded approach to music studies supports our students' potential for growth as musicians and as productive individuals in whatever they pursue. Our mission is to share music in a way that will positively influence a person's life now and in their future.
